"Hi my name is Geoff Sterling and I train right here at Hollywood Soo Bank Do on Sunset Boulevard. What I am going to be showing you right now is a back stance. If you watched the previous episode I showed you the front stance. In the back stance your heels are going to be perpendicular to each other it's just a break away here and one foot is pointing that way and the other is pointing that way. Like I said perpendicular like a 90 degree angle. We also want to make sure that 70% is on the front leg and 30% is on the back leg. A way you can tell that you are doing this right is to take your heel off the ground. The idea of a back stance is to put a lot on the front leg like the kicks. You are really grounded on this back leg. When you move in a back stance you come in this way and pivot so that the foot that is going to become light will become heavy and this foot will become light. So you are pointing your heel away and then you turn like that. See here this way so to emphasize that your body is closed, your heel is up and you are going to rotate your heel down like that. You are here this way and see the hip when you want to move you really snap your hip. So again Soo Bahk Do we need to emphasize the close and then open to generate power. Also to generate power from our hip see that comes in play. You want to make sure you understand these stances and how you move those stances because that is going to play a key roll later on when we are doing our blocks and our strikes."
