"Hello, I am Geoff Sterling of Hollywood Soo Bahk Do and this will be the first in a series of jumping spinning kicks and the application of them as well. The first kick of the series we are going to do is the most basic spinning kick which is the spinning back kick. It is really almost two steps. It is really done if someone is throwing a technique at you. You are going to shield yourself in this way, the leg that is in the front is going to pivot this way and you are going to point your heel off the ground, you are going to bring it in tight. Again the concept of Soo Bahk do is closed and opened. So we are going to be in tight and then we are going to open. My legs are tucked, I am low to the ground, I'm protecting myself. Then what you are going to do is shift your eye focus and pivot your head around this way, look this way and then look that way. Then once you get there you will push off that front leg, again the donkey kick that I showed you and then back again. So the whole kick from start to finish is going to be this way here, that way, and back. One more time here, this way, you are going to retreat and notice the closed and opened. Also it is very important to retract your leg, you notice that after you open you retract your leg. To demonstrate the utilization of this technique I have fellow Soo Bahk Do practitioner, Muhumad Husan. Muhumad is going to demonstrate a way that you could attack me and a way that I can defend myself and counter with this. So we do the kick, I backtrack, I pivot my head so now I see my target this way, I am going to push off with my front leg and lay into him with a heel in a donkey kick and then I will retreat back this way and spin all the way around. I am going to show you again with the kick coming at me a little slower, I am going to back pedal, turn the head, push the target, close and turn around or you could end back this way and then follow it up with something. That was the demonstration of the spinning back kick. Thank you."
