"Hi I'm Geoff Sterling of Hollywood Soo Bahk Do. Right now I am just showing you stances. Right now the first basic stance is called the front stance. To do the front stance you stand this way. Basically your feet are shoulder width apart and you have 70% of your weight on your front leg and about 30% of your weight on your back leg. You want to make sure you stay pretty low. You should feel some tension in your quadriceps. A lot of times I see them train and go up like that and the reason why you want to stay low is because you are more grounded and you are going to have more power that way. When we get into more advanced moves like strikes and blocks you want to make sure to walk this way on the floor. Actually let's go over that too how you move out of a front stance. Most people think just walking is the way. The problem with walking is you are going to go up and down. The problem is with Soo Bahk Do it is almost like you are in a tunnel and you don't want to go up and down because you will hit your head. You want to make sure you stay very low in the tunnel. You want to be like this. The way to get around that is you kind of join your foot and then you go out again. You travel with your feet in an S shape. So you are here and then you go like that. You go backwards. Again to show you a profile here. That was a front stance. Thank you for watching."
