"Often when you come across a pinned boat, you want to keep thinking keep it simple. Whenever you rescue, you don't necessarily want to get out of your boat right away and if you can get a pinned boat off while still in your kayak, that is something that you can think about. In this sort of situation, pull in on the downstream side of the pin boat and reach up and see if you can grab a grab look and start holding it off. Sometimes this may mean getting your boat out into the current to create an extra drag and that will pull the kayak off as well. A reminder that you will be pulling off a full boat off the pin so that you will be needing a back up plan when it comes off. "
