Series Summary

Wakeboarding can be described as a modified version of waterskiing, with a little bit of surfing and snowboarding technique mixed in. Often riding at slower speeds and with shorter rope lengths, a wakeboarder is towed behind a boat on a wedge-shaped, snub-nosed board. As the board hits the wake created by the speed boat, cutting through the water, the wakeboarder is launched into the air. The basic idea is to perform the most outrageous, fun, cool-looking tricks possible…while staying above the water and on the board. Wakeboarding is definitely an extreme sport.

In this free instructional video series, learn how to wakeboard for the very first time. Our expert will demonstrate the basic wakeboarding moves and stances, including how to stand up, and stay up, in the water, and how to change direction. Tips also include wakeboarding safety guidelines, wakeboard care and maintenance, and warmup stretch routines before you hit the water.

Video Transcript

"Hello! I’m Francisco Escudero here in Miami, Florida. If you want to learn more about wakeboarding, go to skybanditz.com. On behalf of expertvillage.com, I welcome you. First thing we need is a wakeboard style board with some foot straps. As you get advanced, we can actually put some boots on this. But for today, all we need to have is just a simple wake style board with foot straps so the feet don’t fall off. Some of these foot straps are adjustable. We just have to place are foot in here, open the foot strap, and adjust it to your feet. You’re going to do the same thing on the other side. Slide your foot in, adjust the foot strap. You’re going to check your stance. Make sure it’s parallel to shoulders so you’re comfortable. "
