"Hi this is Eric Sterns with Expert Village. We are discussing some signaling and we are discussing actually visual signaling at this point. Visual signaling being defined as anything you can use that draws peoples' attention to you by sight. One of the tools that everyone has even though they are broken down by the side of the road is you can still use your car for multiple things. What we are going to do is we are going to flash our headlights. What we should be doing if possible is we want to position our car directing it at oncoming traffic on the side of the road so you will be seen. Hopefully you won't be hit so you want to be far enough off the side of the road but you want people to have the greatest chance of actually seeing that you are stranded and that will help you be noticed and have some attention drawn to you so you can get some assistance. What I'm going to do now is I am going to go ahead and step into the car and I am going to demonstrate with the headlights signaling. Of course this is something that is also done with the function of the flashers which you will want to have on anyway. When your car is stranded you should also have your emergency flashers on because that will also aid you in being seen and being located. "
