"Hi, I am Ed Kramarcik, PBA member and AMF staff player, and also pro shop owner for Rip the Rack Pro Shop. Please visit me at www.riptherackbowling.com for all of your pro shop needs. What we are going to do right now is go over what weight you should pick out, and how you should know, if you have not bowled in 20 years, what ball would be right for you to start out with. Usually the rule of thumb is 10 percent of the body weight. So if you weigh 80 pounds, you should be using an 8-pound ball; some people like to use a heavier ball to get more pin carry. So that is rule of thumb, but you want to come to the center, pick up a ball and see what fits you good."
