Series Summary

Basketball, b-ball, hoops—these are all names for one of the most popular games in America. Whether it’s professional play in the NBA, college games, the local high school team, a friendly round of one-on-one round, or an outdoor street game at the playground court, basketball is exciting and fast-paced, pitting player against player and skill against skill. Having strong fundamentals like dribbling, passing, and shooting is the key to the success of any aspiring player or team. Though flashy dunks, trick shots, and off the wall dribbling antics are fun to watch and have their place, they often create a “superstar” mentality that ultimately hurts the team if not put in check. What makes basketball great is the combination of individual talent and team strategy, ultimately producing a match that’s sure to keep you on the edge of your seat.

In this free sports video series, learn how to play the game of basketball. Whether you aspire to be a pro, or you just like shooting hoops with your friends, our expert will coach you in some of those ever-important fundamentals. Get tips on how to stretch and warm up properly, how to dribble, how to pass the ball, steal, make jumpers and lay ups, how to play offense and defense, how to shoot free throws, and what the different positions on basketball team do. "Hello my name is Donaill Dixon and on behalf of Expert Village I'm going to be talking about beginning basketball. The first two stretches we're going to be doing during our basketball training would be the jumping jacks which you want to do 3 sets of 15 and also you want to do a stretch which you're going to be stretching our your groin. When you're doing the jumping jacks these are good because they're good for doing defenses, they're good for stretching out your shot and they're also good for when you're running the floor. Your groin is also good because if you don't stretch your groin you can severally hurt yourself, not just temporarily but permanent because you're going to be doing a lot of running and a lot of conditioning while playing basketball.
