"Hi, my name is Don Snyder, Executive Director of the National Skeet Shooting Association on behalf of Expert Village. Now one of the things we wanted to talk about is types of shotguns used in skeet shooting. And I've got four different types that are spread out on this table, and we'll talk about each one of them very generally. One of the ones that is a fixed action shotgun, side by side shotgun, and basically the term side by side is both barrels are side by side. It's a fixed action, when you close it that shows that the ammunition is locked in place and it's ready to shoot. One of the more common ones, particularly in the United States, is the pump action shotgun, and this one is slid forward engaging the shotgun shell, it's also kind of a fixed action shotgun. There's nothing to dissipate the recoil. A lot of people use these particularly in the hunting scenario, and they're also very, very good on the skeet field. Another shotgun type is the semi-automatic shotgun. These shotguns are operated both by spring action and also by gas operation, and these shotguns, again, are single barrel and they're operated automatically by the recoil of the shotgun shell. These shotguns, in some cases, dissipate the recoil felt, and are preferred by a lot of different people. One of the more common types of shotguns is the over and under shotgun. Most active competitors use this type of shotgun, they get to look down one sight plane to engage the target. It's again, a fixed action shotgun, and again, you would close it to engage the shotgun shells into that action. But these are very common shotguns that are used in skeet shooting."
