"Hi! This is Don Daly representing expertvillage.com, and in this clip, we’re going to show submissions from side control. Side control on your opponent; you want to be chest to chest weighing heavy down on his chest. Center over his sternum, hand in the hip, one under his head. This way he can’t turn in towards me, roll me over, or get his guard, so we have him trapped. If I go to work on his arm, I always want to put my knee in his hit. We got to keep something in his hips, so we either put the hand in the hip or knee in the hip to stop him from guarding. It’s a good position to be in jiu jitsu. Again, we can do submissions on the arm. We can do chokes. I can take them out, better position. Street fight, I’m here. I grab here, lean on chest, I can punch. Boom, he can’t punch me. My reach is better. So side control; again, always center heavy with the sternum. Hand on the hip, hand in the head. We flatten them out and keep him down. He can’t move. "
