"Hello my name is Dmitri Olympiev and I teach at Pines Ice Arena in Pembroke, Florida. You can reach us on the web at www.www.pinesicearena.com. Now when you’re skating around the ice, it’s very important to learn how to change directions. From forward to backwards and from backwards to forward. For this, we use an element called “Three Turns”. This is how it looks like. When we do a three turn, we turn always on the middle part of the skate. Now for that there is a very good exercise, we’re going to put the arms up, feet together and we’re going to do a moving of the hips. One, two. One, two. One, two. Try to move your arms as less as possible, but do move your hips a lot. One, two. One, two. And now we’re going to do three turn. One, two. One, two. We’ll be right back."

on 6/14/2009 Im sorry but I must agree with skating pro. My daughter has been taking lessons for 5 years and is doing local competitions. After taking lessons from him for 2 years she almost quit. We had a very negative experience taking lessons from Mr. Olympiev. He abused her mentally and his techniques are very questionable. After researching into the PSA I found out that they are the organization in which coaches can become rated or qualified. There are 4 different levels. they undergo oral scrutiny by top coaches who decide if they are fit to be coaching. Its amazing how so many failed russian coaches come over here, charge top dollar to torture your children and don't even bother to ensure they are rated. My advice to you moms....be careful when selecting a coach. You definately cannot learn to skate with an instructional video. Research your coach and make sure they are PSA rated if you want what is best for your child. That is what we did and are now training with an american coach at a rink near by, and the results have been amazing.

on 8/2/2008 Why you are saying that this guy is no good?! First of all, before judging his English, you should have at least some intelligence and don't say: "this guy", because "this guy" has a name, and his name is Mr. Olympiev. Secondly, you can't judge this coach just by looking at these video clips. All these video clips helped my cousin, and helped a lot, even her coach were so surprised. I want to thank you Mr. Olympiev for sharing these lessons with other people, and your English is excellent, you explaining very clear and very professional. Thank you so much!
