on 8/2/2008 Why you are saying that this guy is no good?! First of all, before judging his English, you should have at least some intelligence and don't say: "this guy", because "this guy" has a name, and his name is Mr. Olympiev. Secondly, you can't judge this coach just by looking at these video clips. All these video clips helped my cousin, and helped a lot, even her coach were so surprised. I want to thank you Mr. Olympiev for sharing these lessons with other people, and your English is excellent, you explaining very clear and very professional. Thank you so much!

on 8/2/2008 In response to the comment below- No do not listen to this man, he really doesn't know what he's talking about. If you want to learn how to ice skate well go to your local rink and get information on the coaches, look up their names online, they should be members of psa, and have good qualifications. I also feel we should support our fellow Americans so make sure your coach is American. Have a nice day!

on 8/2/2008 This is absolutley ridiculous that this coach who does not even represent the United States should put videos of himself attempting to teach figure skating. Firstly he needs to learn how to speak the language, and second, does the rink know about this, because soliciting himself like this is unethical and disrespectful to the other coaches at that rink, who are probably far more qualified than him. If you want to take skating lessons you should go to the ice rink and take from a PSA (Professional Skaters Association) rated coach. These coaches are ranked in the country by top United States coaches such as Frank Carrol. Any Russian coach who has to sink to this level of online video, but cannot bother to get himself rated to coach should be sent back to work in the circus over there.

"Hello my name is Dmitri Olympiev and I teach at Pines Ice Arena in Pembroke, Florida. You can reach us on the web at www.www.pinesicearena.com. Now the next exercise I’m going to show you will teach us how to glide around the circle fast. For that I’m going to get in the circle, notice how I put my arms, they’re not straight anymore, they’re twisted it will help us to go around the circle. I’m going to sit down, push, stay on one foot, cross my foot over and then put it back. By practicing you can develop quite a bit of speed, this move is called “Forward Crossover”. We’ll be right back. "
