"Hi! My name is David Dirks. I am managing director of Dirks Outdoors on behalf of Expert Village. Today we are going to learn how to tie the classic and highly effective wooly bugger. One of my favorite ways to fish the wooly bugger is to simply strip the fly in after casting. I can vary the retrieve to a slow retrieve or I can speed the retrieve up. It is whatever the fish prefer. Another way to also fish this fly is to basically as you strip it in, jiggle the tip of the fly head a little bit so you can see it moving a little bit there, jiggling it giving it a little more life and action. The most important thing to remember about fishing the wooly bugger as a fly is that what makes it a fly that catches a lot of fish. It's ability to look edible in the water. So no matter how you fish it,whether you can see the fly or not, always remember that you need to impart some life to this fly because that is why it was built for life and built to catch fish."
