Golf is a game in which players use clubs with various degrees of loft to hit a small ball into a hole. It is thought to have originated in the Netherlands but during the 15th century Scotland opened the world's first golf course called St. Andrews and popularized the game to what it has become today. At that time players did not play 18 holes. They would play a total of 22 holes per round instead. In 1764 they decided that a few of the holes were too short so they combined them and the total per round became the 18 we play today. So many games with using sticks have been around for centuries but golf, as we know it today, is thought widely to have originated in Scotland.
This video series is perfect for either the beginning golfer or a seasoned player. It of course covers the basics of the grip and lining up your drives and putts but it also shows you a few techniques for some trouble shots around the green. Whether you need full instruction on how to play the game or just a refresher course these videos are a must see to improve your handicap. Watch them with a club in hand and try them out during your next round.
" Hi! My name is David Anderson and we are at the beautiful golf club at Star Ranch outside of Austin, Texas. We are here today to talk about golf to help you with your golf game; everything from exercising, from stretching before you play the game. Also, we will talk about chipping and putting. Various groups you can use for both chipping and putting. Among my accomplishments in golf, I have been a golfer since the age of 9, I’ve been a member of the USGA for over 20 years, I do have a hole in one and I played college golf on a small scholarship to a Junior college in East Texas. Among my years of broadcasting sports in the Austin area, I’ve been a master of ceremonies at over 100 charity golf tournaments in this city. I’ve also taken various golf tips from some of the greatest masters in the game including the late truly great Harvey Penick who wrote the international best seller, the Little Red Book about Golf. So we are going to go through all the things that will help you with your golf game including again, chipping and putting but first we need to get you warmed up to play the game of golf. "
