"Hi! I am Dave Shelton explaining Frisbee for Expert Village.com. Welcome back, Okay this next shot is one of my favorites. This next throw is called discus throw and the reason for that is very simple, one the Frisbee is pretty similar to a discus itself, like the name implies it is very similar to what track and field athlete would do in a regular discus, unlike the discus though which is solid on both sides of course. The Frisbee is concave and convex so it creates more air pressure when you are throwing it and it is little bit more accurate than the discus is. Just like on the other throws, your thumb is going to be on the inside and your fingers are going to be on the outside. Okay, but in this case, you are reversing it. So instead of throwing it like this, you are going to be throwing it with your wrist and arm twisted back this way. If you can pretty much get the motion down you will be fine. Again, rip it the same way you did the other throw, the thumb throw, like that but instead of twisting it like this, you are twisting your wrist outside so that this will rest on your arm like that. Unlike the discus, you are going to be using your entire body to make this throw. It is very simple; let us try one. You could rock back and forth just like a discus thrower and then release it that way when you feel comfortable, or you can just release it one time like that and you are going to flick it forward just like you do a discus, okay let’s try. With this kind of throw, you are releasing it with your thumb, which is actually acting as the activation device to propel the disc and then you are going to release it forward just like that; let’s try one, as simple as that.
