Series Summary

Modern disc golf was started in the late 1960's by George Sappenfield who set up the first disc golf course in 1975. A form of disc golf had been around since the early 1900's but was never popular until the course was invented. The object of the game is much like golf in that you want to throw the disc into a basket in the fewest number of attempts. Each attempt is tallied and the player with the fewest number of throws at the end of the course is the winner. The terminology is also similar to “ball” golf in that you have a drive, chipping and putting. It is a very unique and fun game to play with friends that is physical and free.

This free video series will teach you tips, ideas and techniques on how to catch and throw a disc in fun unique ways as well as the rules and regulations of disc golf. It will explain the history of the disc and how the throw has evolved over the years and, as a bonus, instructions on how to play disc football and it's rules.

" Hi! I am Dave Shelton explaining Frisbee’s and I am representing Expert Village.com. The history of the Frisbee is an interesting one. It started back in the 60’s when a company called the Frisbee Pie Company starting selling more Frisbee tins than they did pies and then people started throwing them around. It became not only a fashion statement, it also became a sport; the rest is history. It has developed through the years and we are going to be covering a lot of that stuff throughout these videos. Today we are going to go over throws and catches, trick throws and trick catches and also couple of the games you could play once you master all those. For the throws, we are going to go over the basic front throw, we are going to go over the table throw, we are going to go over the thumb throw, we are going to be going over the discus throw and then we are going to do some trick throws like under the legs and behind the back. You are going to love those. Then we are going to go over some catches; we are going to go over catches like your basic catch, trick catches, behind the back catches and through the leg catches and then we are going to go into the actual games that you get to play with them, which is the most fun once you master all the techniques of throwing, which makes the Frisbee experience the most wonderful thing of all. So it is something you can make friends with, it is something that is good for exercise and it also keeps you really young and to me anything that fights age is really, really, really great. "
