Series Summary

Krav Maga is a self-defense method used in hand-to-hand combat that was developed in Israel. The version that is taught to civilians is often a simplified version of the art that is used by the Israeli Security Forces and law enforcement officers. Because there are certain techniques that are deadly, there are legal constraints on teaching the civilians certain moves. “Krav Maga” generally means “close combat” in Hebrew and was developed in the 1930s by Imi Lichtenfeld. It was first used to protect the Jewish community from Nazi militias and is taught today as a self defense method.

In this series of videos, learn the basic self defense moves associated with Krav Maga. Watch as our expert demonstrates the basic knee strikes and the seven elbow strikes used to defend yourself against an attacker. Krav Maga is a face-to-face combat method and therefore, all the strikes, kicks and blocks are administered very close together. There are significant choke methods and front kicks that are basic moves in Krav Maga. Learn how to put your opponent in a headlock from the side and administer straight punches. Watch as our expert demonstrates self defense moves in the neck area of your attacker. See clips on moves such as “inside the fence” and the “one hand plug.” Begin your Krav Maga training with the basic fighting stance and challenge yourself with other moves.
