" Hi my name is Dan and I'm here with Expert Village. Today I'm going to show you how to make an eye splice in a three strand braided rope. An eye splice is especially useful when you need a fixed permanent loop that would be very strong and will not come untie. The first thing you do is you want to separate your three strands. Melting the burn or tape the ends so they don't fray. Be careful when using your lighter cause the plastic can get very hot. Wrapping with tape would make a tight little end and it would feed through the coming braids. Next determine how long you want your loop to be. In this case we would make about the size of a dog walking leech handle. So you want to place a piece of tape where the end of your loop will be. Then about three inches down from where you started to unraveled your line. Untwist your line all the way to your tape. Now you are ready to start the splice. Gently roll the line against its grain until you come up with a little loop and take anyone of your three strands and pass it underneath. Do the same with the next strand."
