" Hi my name is Dan and I'm here with Expert Village. Today I'm going to show you how to tie a monkeys fist. Which is a very old boating knot. To start with take your pointer finger and middle finger and spread them. Make three turns around your fingers. Next wrap your leading end in between your two fingers the same number of turns you took around your fingers in this case three. When you have completed these three turns very carefully remove your fingers from the knot and take the leading end and make three more constrict loops. The monkeys fist is quiet simple to tie however tightening it is where some skill is needed, as it must be tightened evenly. Pick one point in your knot and start slowly and evenly removing the slack. The monkeys fist's practical application if tied with a rock in the center becomes quiet a heavy knot and you can tie it in a small line and then bend it or attach it to a larger line and throw this from your boat to the dock or a deck hand can grab the monkeys fist and pull in the thin line with a larger line attach to it. So that is how you tie a monkeys fist."
