" Hi! My name is Dan, and I am here with Expert Village today to talk to you about quick draws. Now the title of this segment was top rope climbing, so quick draws are not always critical when top roping. However, they can be useful when setting up your anchors at the top of your climb. They can also be used as directionals. If a climb has a single bolt that leads your rope around an overhang or particularly treacherous segment of rock, they typically have two different shaped carabineers, and they are also facing in different directions, so one will open to the right and one to the left. The pear shaped carabineer will clip on to a bolt or onto a sling if you are making an anchor. The oddly-shaped carabineer is what your rope will go through, as it is easier to clip through with the bend in the gate. There are a number of materials that the quick draws can be made of, whether it is spectra or standard webbing. They also come in a variety of different lengths. They tend to be typically somewhere between these two lengths, but there are much longer ones for varied uses. Quick draws often times come in multi-packs, which if you are purchasing near gear is a good way to get a lot of quick draws, and not spend as much as if you bought them one at a time. So those are a few considerations to look at when looking at quick draws. "
