"So each shotgun has a different shotgun shell size. For example, this 12 gauge shotgun shell is only a two and three quarter inch shotgun shell but this shotgun will take these two and three quarters or three inch shotgun shot shell size and some twelve gauges now even hold half inch shot sizes. A ten gauge is going to have a much wider shotgun shell and it's going to be able to hold more bb's and more powder and it also goes up to three and a half inches. So the larger the shotgun the bigger the shell, the more bb's it can throw out. But that doesn't always mean it's the best pattern. Some shotguns shot shell sizes don't typically produce the best patterns time and time again. So when you are researching what type of shotgun you would like to get check to see what kind of pattern that shell throws out because many times that's much more important than the size shotgun itself."
