"Hi. My name is Dan Schmidt from the Chinese Martial Arts Center. Today, we're going to be showing you proper self-defense against a front bear hug. So there's a few steps you have to take. So, when someone grabs, what you want to do is you want to step back with one foot, you want to stretch your hands forward towards their hips. From there, you're going to create a gap. You want to come up with your knee straight to the groin and scrape down with on their shin with your heel. OK, so he comes forward with the grab. Take your hands, get straight to the hips, come up with your knee and scrape straight down the shin, all the way down to the foot. OK? So again, so he grabs. You take the hands. Hit! Step back at the same time. Knee straight up. Scrape straight down. A couple of common errors for this. So, when he grabs, don't try to hit first and then step. You have to do it at the same time. So here, strike and step. OK, it's a fast action. Straight up and straight down. OK -- one more time. So, he grabs. OK. Step back. Hit. Push in and down. Straight up. Straight down. That's the proper way for self defense against a front bear hug."
