Hi, my name is Dan Schmidt from the Chinese Martial Arts Center and today we're going to be showing you the proper way to do the Scissor Stance. Okay, Scissor Stance, you want to start from the feet together position, okay. Take your right leg, cross right over your left, okay, you want to bend your knees so you're crossed-legged. Okay, your left knee should come out from behind your right knee. Okay, the front foot, you want it parallel. Okay, in the back foot, you want it to be on the toes. Okay, you want to keep the back straight. Okay, you want to turn the head to the direction that you're going. Okay, and the foot, make sure the foot doesn't turn either way. And you want to keep the weight mainly on the front leg. Do not sit on the back foot and don't let your buttocks touch your heel. Okay, a simple application for this stance is to train your legs for things like low kicks. So if he comes in with a punch, he can block and he comes straight in this way. See, and this represents like the Scissor Stance, builds the strength in the legs. Or, if he punches, okay, you can block up, you can kick the back leg, the same way. That's the proper way to perform a Scissor Stance.
