Video Transcript

"Hi, my name is Dan Schmidt from the Chinese Martial Arts Center and today we're going to be showing you the Light Stance. Okay, the Light Stance, if you start from the feet together position, okay, just pick a leg, okay, you want to take step straight forward. Now the knees are very close together and you want to bend the weight straight down. Okay, if you notice, knees are together, you want to squeeze the thighs together a bit, the back has to be straight along with the chest. You want to keep the head up, shoulders relaxed. Okay, in the front knee, don't let the knee bend and you want the toes forward. Okay. Now this stance is good for attacking or retreading or preparing to apply like a lock. Okay. So, if I was fighting and he was to come in with punches, okay, see, I can use it to yield back, okay, in the light stance. So, he punches again, okay, from here, I can move forward, okay. Or, if we're fighting and he comes in and he steps through, okay, I can use it to slide back and then come in and prepare an attack. Okay and that is the proper way to perform a Light Stance."
