"Hi, my name is Dan Schmidt from the Chinese Martial Arts Center and today we're going to be showing you the Proper Drop Stance. Okay, from a feet together position, hands on your hips. Okay, with your right foot, you want to turn the foot out about 45 degrees. Okay. You want to step out with the left leg, okay, keep it straight, press all the way down like this and with the chest up, slightly bent forward. Okay, now with the Drop Stance, it's very important that the knee points out over the toe. Okay. You want to keep the back straight, try not to roll your shoulders forward, have to keep the legs straight and you want your front foot completely parallel, you don't want to turn foot outward, you don't want to turn it inward, completely parallel. Keep the head up. Okay, in a way to test your alignment is through the strength of the stance. So, if you can have your partner hold their fist out, and you want to gently pull, okay, if they come off, something's wrong with the stance, it has to be fixed. Okay, some common applications for the Drop Stance are training your legs for low kicks such as like a side kick. Okay, a way to do it is if Tim punches in, okay here, like a Drop Stance for train kicking low to the ankle this way. See, it represents the kick. Okay, if he was to punch in, come this way you can jump, kick straight to the knee this way. That is the proper way to perform a Drop Stance."
