"Hi, my name is Dan Schmidt from the Chinese Martial Arts Center and today we're going to be showing you the Proper Lotus Stance. Okay, from the feet together position, hands on the hips. You want to take your right leg, and you want to hook it behind your left leg and you want to sink straight down till your front leg is parallel to the floor. Okay. If you notice with this Stance, you want to keep the thighs tuck together. You want the leg parallel back straight. Don't roll the hips forward, don't roll them back. Everything has to be completely straight, head erect. Okay. Now the back foot, you want to have the top of the foot touching right below the knee on top of the calf. This way. Now, this stance is use for advancing mainly towards the chest or towards the face. So, if somebody punches in this way, okay, you block, you come straight in here, this way. Okay. Or, if he punches from the side, okay, you come here, punch straight in to the ribs. Okay. This stance by performing it on one leg, mainly is training your strength in one leg so you can lean and dodge and strike from different angles. Okay. And that is the proper way to perform the Lotus Stance."
