"Hi. I'm Cole at Expert Village and I'm going to be talking about how to properly clear a regulator. Sometimes the regulator can get kicked out of your mouth underwater or the hose can get caught on the reef and get pulled out of your mouth and then get water in it. You need to get that water out before you begin breathing off of it. There are two ways to do that. The first one is to just blast it clear like a snorkel; just put it in your mouth and blow into it forcefully. The alternate method is to take your tongue and put it to the roof of your mouth, and then press the front of the regulator, or the purge button, and it will cause air to flow through the lines, into the regulator and forcing the water out the vents. That method is typically used if your regulator gets pulled out of your mouth just before you're about to take a breath and you don't have enough air in your lungs to force the air out yourself."
