"Hi, I’m Chris Van Londen and on behalf of Expert Village I will be talking about conditioning for hiking. When you are hiking it is important to be in good shape. The way I get in this shake, hey how would you like to go for walks everyday? It makes my legs strong, keeps my cardiovascular system in good shape but I think working out with weights can help too because often you are carrying weight so it is good to have a strong back through workouts on your back, from your arms and your chest. So if you are planning a long trip, generally what I like to do is work up to it. That is part of the conditioning also. If I am doing a backpacking trip for 5 days I know I am going to be entering high country and doing a lot of up and down trips, a month before that trip I am going to start doing day trips that will get me in good conditioning; trips that will require me to go up in elevation at thousand feet or 1500 feet. That is great conditioning for long trips. "
