"When you are out hunting one of the requirements in I believe every state while you're hunting with a rifle is wearing the color hunter orange. The purpose for that is it is very easy for the fifteen thousand people out hunting to mistake you for a deer if you are wearing a bunch of camouflage and you look like an animal roaming through the woods. Hunter orange is safe. The deer don't pick it up like we pick it up. It will save your life. Many lives have been ended from people sneaking around in the woods while it's rifle season thinking that they, that they don't, that they have an invisible cloak against a man with a rifle from four hundred yards away that they have no idea is there. So, bright colors are also very important. As far as permits go, there are two different categories; well there are numerous categories, but two main different categories: unprotected animals and protected animals. Unprotected animals, such as let's say jack rabbits or coyotes around here, are legal to shoot at any time. While I don't think it's the most ethical thing to do there's no permit required to do that. For everything else in regards to big game hunting or small game hunting or migratory bird hunting you must have a permit to harvest animals. What a permit is, is a license to hunt to give you; a license to hunt one or more animals depending on the animal that you're hunting. What's great about wildlife management systems and permits is that the reason we have elk roaming around here and the reason we have so many deer roaming around here and the reason why we have wetlands is because of all the permits that are bought and the wildlife support that is given through hunter money. So, permits are a good thing they keep the animals here and keep them managed as well so that they're not over populated or under populated."
