Handgun Ammunition for Target Shooting: Practice Tips for the Gun Range

"Hi, my name is Chad and we’re talking about rifle and pistol shooting today. We’ll talk a little bit about different choices in handguns, why you might choose different ammunition. You buy a handgun, it shoots only the ammunition it’s bought for, just like in rifles. And they generally differ, other than in action- whether it’s single, or double, or semi-automatic- in the ammunition it uses. They start about here, which is 22 long rifle. Very small round, very prolific- as we mentioned. And it is one few crossovers between rifles and pistols. You can buy rifles that’ll shoot this, you can buy pistols that will shoot this. It’s generally just for target shooting and hunting really small game, and clinking. Step up a little further and you get to this round- nine millimeter. It’s, other than the 22, the most prolific round for handguns in the world. And it’s generally used for self-defense, target shooting. It’s for semi-automatics and for very, very few revolvers. And it just goes on up from there. This is the bullet from a 45 caliber- it’s larger than this nine millimeter, as you can see. And this is the case- quite a bit larger. And it’s also for semi-automatic. The bullets just basically get larger and faster, with revolvers using the largest ones of all. Revolvers use the most powerful- or can use the most powerful- of bullets between automatics and revolvers. So that’s the basic differences. You choose the ammunition you want to shoot and the gun that will shoot it based on what you think you might want to do. "
