"In this clip we learn how to play the actual game of derby. The Pivots wear stripes on their helmets. The job of the Pivot is to set the pace of the pack. So however fast the Pivots are going, that's how fast the pack goes. Their job is also to be the last line of defense for the Jammer to get through. So if the Pivot sees the opposing Jammer, she's going to try and knock her out, or if her Jammer's coming through, she'll try and block the other Pivot from knocking out her Jammer. The Jammers have stars on their helmets. The Jammer's job is to get through the pack and score points. All of the Blockers within the pack are trying to either assist or knock out the Jammers, whether it's an opposing or a friendly Jammer. That's what determines how they're going to act towards her. Within the pack, they're also trying to block each other and knock each other out before they take out the Jammer. The Jammers have to make their way through the pack. As soon as they clear the pack once, they are free to lap the pack, come through again and for every hip that they pass of an opposing player, they score one point. So each time through the pack, they can score up to four points a piece. If they lap the other Jammer, they score a point off the Jammer for a total of five. "
