"In this clip we're going to learn how to build up your endurance in roller derby. One of the goals of every derby girl is to be able to pass a test that allows her to skate with the league. There's two parts of that test that include endurance. One is, she must skate around the track five times in under one minute. Now that doesn't seem like a really difficult thing to do, but it requires very, very precise skating, very fast around a small, tight track. The other goal that she has is to skate twenty laps in under five minutes. Again, it doesn't seem like a very big goal, but twenty laps when you're skating all out is a really, really, really tough thing to do. It takes a lot of endurance and it takes a lot of energy. So we?re going to talk about how to build up your endurance to be able to pass those two parts of that test. The less you can do as far as smoking, drinking, and eating junk food, the less of that the better. You will become a better athlete. You should start drinking lots of water. Hydration is very important when you're learning endurance. You want to take frequent water breaks, sipping a little bit at a time while you're skating. And for every two hours of skating, you want to have a good sports drink. So, building up endurance. The best way to do this is to skate daily. And by skating daily I mean either skating at a public session at a local rink, skating on trails nearby your home, or coming out to a nice skate park like this one and skating out in the open when there's nobody else there. It's a really good lunch time activity and you'll find that the more you skate on a daily basis, the more your endurance will be built up."
