Nunchucks are a traditional weapon of the Kobudo weapons set and consists of two sticks connected at their ends with a short chain or rope. The nunchuck as a weapon has surged in popularity since martial artist Bruce Lee used it in his movies in the 1970's. It is generally considered by martial artists to be a limited weapon, although it is also one of the least understood. Complex and difficult to use, the nunchuck has a steep learning curve. "CALAB LABARDA: All right. So today, we're going to be going over speed chucks, okay? What is a speed chuck, you might ask. It's like a regular nunchuck that you might have seen Bruce Lee used but now they've been converted into a smaller stick, okay? Either pine, maple or a hard wood that's very strong and with about a one-inch string, okay? Now, these nunchucks are good for inner spins and really fast strikes, okay? Now, if you use the original type of nunchuck with the really heavy piece of wood, that's more for like bashing, okay? So you can, like, really bash somebody with those, really knock somebody's head, okay? But these ones are more for whips and fast strikes that'll do a lot of damage and hurt at the same time, okay? So let's go and review. If you watched the beginning of the series with a single nunchuck, let's go and review those moves, okay? We have a regular L-strike. It's our basic strike. We have our X's, okay? We have our spins side to side and into our X's with spins, okay? We have around the neck. Bam. This is where you pause, okay? We have our thumb spins over the wrists. We have over the back with throw, okay? Helicopter spins, bam. And all those, okay? So remember, each one of these are all strikes. So today, we're going to be putting two nunchucks together. We will be using two and we're going to put those moves together using two nunchucks."
