So not everybody has an easy time carrying a solo boat, they are heavy and with water in them and all that they can weigh even more, so oftentimes you have a friend along and they can help you carry your boat and a good way to do that is to have each person get at their end, and they get on opposite sides of the boat, reach down, they can grab the grab handle, if there’s a grab handle on the deck, or they can grab the grab loop in the back if they need to and they can just walk ahead, walk along with the boat like that. Another way to do that with two people, if you’re going longer distances may be a little bit more comfortable, is to have each person grab one of the thwarts, and if you work together, and you go one, two, three, up, you can carry it over your head and this can be more comfortable for some long distances, or for portages, just depends on how the canoe is made and how the canoe is outfitted. So to put it down you do exactly the same thing, just turn it back down, and there you are.
