" Hi, this is Bruce Lessels from Zoar Outdoor on behalf of expertvillage.com. We’re going to talk about making a campfire and taking down a campfire and campfire safety. So another great way to start a campfire is called the teepee method. In this method you’re going to make kind of a teepee structure around the center kindling and other small burnables and that’s going to cause the fire to climb up to that teepee and it’s going to start, get a nice upper moving flame going. If you happen to have a fork stick like this, that’s a nice way to start off your teepee and just need to get the first three sticks to balance easily and then you’re just going to balance a whole bunch more sticks on top of that. The beauty of this type of fire starting system is that the flame does want to move upward and it’s got a lot of room to move here, a lot of the air can get to it and ultimately you can get a nice fire going with this method. I’m trying to start with some smaller stuff and then as I build outwards on the teepee I’ll put in some bigger stuff. You do have to be a little careful not to tip the teepee over as you go. So once I get that all built up and ready to go, ideally I’ll have a one match fire here that I can start with a single match and it’ll give us a whole night of warmth, entertainment and potentially cooking as well."
