" Hi, this is Bruce Lessels from Zoar Outdoor on behalf of expertvillage.com. We’re going to talk about making a campfire and taking down a campfire and campfire safety. So there are bunch of different methods to make a campfire. One method that I like is called the log cabin method, in this one you’re really going to just build kind of crewed log cabin around the center of tender and finer stuff and you’re going to light that finer stuff and by it kind of convicting up through the log cabin and through the structure it’s going to light the log cabin on fire and you’re going to get a nice lively fire. So here’s one started and I started this off with some birch bark on the bottom and some fine kindling on the bottom as well to get the fire going. Then I’m starting to build this cabin structure around it and just taking some a little bit bigger pieces of wood and using those and as I’m building it I’m making it narrower and narrower so it does kind of funnel the flame toward the center. This fire is going to have plenty of room to breathe, so it’s going to have plenty of room for air to get into the sides here and it’s also going to have a nice upward shape cause the flame does rise and the heat does rise up it’s going to rise up to the center and it’s going to catch the fire pretty easily and it should burn well once we get it going. So a log cabin type fire is one of the easy ways to start a fire and one of the more reliable methods for starting a fire out in the woods."
