Hi, this is Bruce Lessels from Zoar Outdoor on behalf of expertvillage.com, talking about choosing and setting up a campsite. So setting up a tent is a skill that you need to learn early on as a camper and one that’s fun to do if you do it right and do it easily and can be really frustrating to do if you try to do it late at late and not having practice before or not having done it very much. So practice this in your backyard or before you go camping the first time. Usually the tent is rolled up like this in a stuff sack, what you’re going to do first is just going to unroll it. This one has the poles inside it as well, so I’m going to unfold the tent and I’m going to stake out the corners just to give myself more of a shape to work with. By staking out the corners you give the tent a little bit of rigidity at first and you keep it from blowing all around if it’s windy. The next thing I’m going to do is to setup the poles, I’m going to take each one of the poles and just kind of lift them up and flop them around a little bit. The shock cords in the poles help them to come together and it’s nice and easy to put them together and you don’t loose the poles. This tent has three poles, it one that goes over the middle and two that go end to end and they’re color coded to keep it easy. The next step is to take the poles and slide them through the sleeves, each pole has a set of sleeves that it runs through to go from end of the tent to the other and if you do this carefully it’s pretty simple to do, it makes the tent a real breeze to setup. So once I have all the poles through the sleeves I’m going to attach one end of the pole each to the ground.
