" Hi, this is Bruce Lessels from Zoar Outdoor on behalf of expertvillage.com, talking about choosing and setting up a campsite. While bug repellent is great and does keep the bugs away to some extent, the best thing you can do to minimize the bugs around your campsite is to sight it well. If you sight it down in a wet area, down in a hollow, often that’ll be a place that attracts bugs and it has a lot of bugs in it. Similarly if you sight it in a field in a place where there’s a lot of grass growing or often on a beach where there may be gnats or sand gnats, various types of bugs there that may not be a good place either because you just may be going into a place where there are just a lot of bugs naturally. So setting it up a little bit higher away from water sources in area that gets a little bit of breeze so that the bugs will be blown away a little bit, it can really help to keep the bugs away and make the bug repellent not so necessary and make the camping trip a really enjoyable one."
