" Hi, this is Bruce Lessels from Zoar Outdoor on behalf of expertvillage.com, talking about choosing and setting up a campsite. So deciding where to set your campsite can also be based on what the surface of the ground is like where you’re camping. There may be various options and in that case you often want to look for an option that’s going to be the lowest impact to the environment and it’s going to be the softest and the easiest for you to sleep on. A place like this right below a pine tree, right below some evergreens it’s going to be nice and soft and you’ll have a good soft kind of surface to sleep on. It should be fairly durable and you’re probably not going to do a lot of damage here. In a place like this over here, you got a little more grass and still a nice soft camping surface and again it’s pretty high up and probably not doing a lot of damage but you do want to be careful of sensitive plants there and if there are things you want to stay away from, just move your campsite somewhere else farther away. Rocks, gravel, stones, things like that can be real difficult to sleep on unless you have a very thick foam pad and typically we don’t carry those on camping trips cause we’re trying to cut down on weight in all the gear we bring. So again, a nice soft definitely on the surface on the ground is great, good sandy beach is nice or a good soft grassy area but stay away from places where you might do some damage to the substrate or where they’re real hard and you’re not going to get a good night sleep."
