" Hi, this is Bruce Lessels from Zoar Outdoor on behalf of expertvillage.com, talking about choosing and setting up a campsite. So when you’re choosing a campsite or a place to sleep for the night you usually want to choose a fairly flat spot in the woods or on a beach or the side of a river, wherever you are but you want to make sure that the spot is as flat as you can get. However, most spots in the woods and on the side of a river and on a beach are not that flat, they usually have a little bit of a slope to them. So in this case we’ve got a little bit of a slope off to this side and that’s okay we can deal with that. When a slope gets to be a little bit greater such as over in here, this is getting to the point where it would be difficult to sleep on and of course over in there the slope is a little too steep to sleep on really comfortably. What happens when you’re sleeping on a slope is you tend to want to sleep with your head up hill but sleeping with your head up hill you tend to sort of migrate downhill through the night. If you sleep in a tent with two people in it and one person sort of migrates towards the other that can be an uncomfortable sleeping situation for both in the evening. So generally you want to setup the tent so its perpendicular to the hill and you’ll slide down toward your feet and not slide either on top of each other or slide to the side. Generally pick a flattest site as you can and realize that at often times you have to put up with a little bit of slope and try to minimize that."
