"Hello, this is Brian on behalf of expertvillage.com. We are going to begin to learn how to cook with our campfire now. One of the first things that we are going to do is boil some water. It’s very important not only to sanitize water if you find it out in the wilderness, to ensure that it is safe to drink, but also you need hot water for dishwashing and for cooking various foods around the camp. So what we are going to do, we have a got stone here in the fire. You can do this with a grating if you prefer, unfortunately we do not have one here, so what I have done is placed a flat rock directly on the coals of the fire. It will get quite hot as well and transfer its heat to the fire. Again, another aspect of having volcanic rock is it allows you to do this. A sandstone tends not to be as effective. What we are going to do is take a stick with a barb on the end of it, and just simply pick up the water, and carefully place it down on the stone right next to the fire, so it can get heat from not only the fire but from the rock. That’s all you need to do. "
