" Hi! This is Brian on behalf of expertvillage.com. Now what I am going to show you is how to properly select the size of your campsite fire. There is a general rule, you don’t want to get much smaller than 2 feet, as it becomes difficult to keep it burning with small logs that would fit in that size fire pit. But it’s a general rule, you want to have about a foot or 2 feet for every 2 people in your fire. For example, a fire pit of this size here will be suitable for 3-4 people. It’s about 3 feet across, and it allows you plenty of space to put logs in of the size that will burn for a considerable period of time. It’s also easy to collect logs to fit this size fire, and it provides comfort for several people. A part of the reason why you want to do this is, as you can see in the forest there is always a bit of a breeze blowing, with a fire pit of this size it allows all 3 or 4 people to get on the side upwind of the fire so that they are not in the smoke. It also gives you a little bit of space for cooking and whatnot so that embers, as they come up out of the fire, do not land in your food. So let’s begin; let’s start building our fire pit ring."
