"Well, getting out there on the trail, sometimes people are just trying to get away from it all. But many trails, particularly the Appalachian Trail, is very social: a lot of people hike it. And so you have to think in terms of trail etiquette, and knowing the dos and don'ts. You've got to be polite to people. And when you're out there, blaring music from your campsite is not looked up on. And also, hiking behind someone: you don't want to be an ankle-biter and if you've got someone in your own group or you just meet up with someone on the trail, you don't want to be like right up behind them and kind of making them fell like, oh goodness, I need to go faster, or I'm in the way. Also, on the inclines, someone who's going downhill usually has the right-of-way. There's nothing written in stone in that. But if you think about it, if you've got your weight and you've got your little jaunt going down the hill, sometimes it's a little hard to stop. So, going uphill is a little easier to stop, and, besides, it's nice to take a rest. So, look out for each other and take care."
