"The question that I sometimes get at Bill Jackson's is well I want to go backpacking, but I don't know how to get to the trail. I mean I drive there and leave my car, then what do I do? There are shuttle services out there and you can find them a few ways. First way would be to find a local friend in the area that can drop you off. Either drop you off pick you up, or have your car at the end and drop you off at the beginning, you hike to your car, or vice-versa. You can also find shuttle services on the internet and also certain guide books for various trails will indicate shuttle services. Case in point would be the Appalachian trail has a book called A Through Hiker's Companion and in there it will list all the trail towns and the amenities but also the shuttle services that are for that specific area. If you have any questions about that, give your local outfitter a call and pick their brain."
