"I am going to talk about rectangular bags now. The great thing about rectangular bags is there is lots of room. Everybody knows from a kid having a rectangular bag going to summer camp. But there?s some down sides going to rectangular bags. There usually heaver. There bulkier. Why are they bulkier? Because they got more fabric. Down here at the foot all this fabric off to the side is extra weight. Not only is it extra weight its extra space inside the bag for your body to heat up before this bag can do its job. Sleeping bags don't keep you warn all they do is they prolong the getting cold process and so having that extra space is not that great. Also at the head of the bag its just square there is nothing to really draw it around you. You can kind of draw it up around your head but there?s this big opening to let, What? To let heat out of the bag so not always the best thing but nice thing you can be undone used as a comforter. Great for car camping but I'm not so sure it would be the best thing for backpacking. If you have any questions give your local outfitter a holler."
