"And now we're going to talk about, as part of the floor, the hole covers that are used and the holes that are designed to be used inside the shanty. This shanty is elevated, the floor is basically elevated anywhere between six and twelve inches off of the ice, so there is quite a bit of distance between the floor and the ice. We've got number of holes in here that are designed so that they have a cross over the top, and there are little arrows on these to designate exactly where the hole lines up to go in and out easily. These holes are originally designed by putting a pie plate on the floor and tracing them out with a pencil. You want to get a pretty good size hole, maybe twelve inches in diameter, so that you can fish any different species. And then you simply take that piece of plywood that you cut out, and mount a couple of 2x2's or other pieces of wood that will hang over the edge so that it fills the hole easily and it will plant right back in. As you can see, in this shanty, there are six holes. We've lettered them "A" through "D", with no particular reason in mind other than we didn't want to use 1, 2 and 3. Let's pull the hole covers off of the holes. You can see the six holes here in the shanty, each one of them is an available seated position for whoever is sitting here. This is a six man shanty, so there are six holes. Each of them are 12" in diameter, and are situated so that you have a line coming down from the ceiling that will drop directly down into the hole between your legs. Makes it very easy to use, and you'll find that any one of these holes can be covered up at the end of the day, and if you're leaving your shanty on the ice, put these covers back on over the holes, and it will keep the holes from freezing overnight, which a lot of times it gets quite cold overnight, and each one of these hole covers will keep the holes from freezing shut. The next morning all you have to use is a chisel."
