"And here we are inside the permanent shanty. You can see that it's roughly of an 8 by 6 foot construction. Make out of luan and 2 x 2's cut from 2 x 4's. It has all the amenities of home but in a much, much cruder fashion. Isn't that right great pumpkin? Absolutely. And we have McKenna in here with us as well. Some of the items that I'd like to go over with you that you might want to install in a shanty that you were to build yourself. You want to take a look at things like the floor and the walls. The floor is a 3/4 inch thicks plywood. And it is weatherproof plywood. You can see right here. and the walls are made out of a simple luan. Just something to break up the wind coming in. And when you have a heater going in here that's really all you need. Rudy do you have any observations you'd like to make about the floors, walls or construction of the shanty? Well what I like to talk about is when you mentioned the luan, it's also lightweight and easy to maneuver. Reduces the weight of your fixed shanty. That would allow you to get out on the ice faster and a lot easier. You're right. And there is such a thing as using some of the roof joists here. Can be used to set up jigging lines from the ceiling. Basically everything about this shanty wants to become utilitarian in value. You want to have such things as some shelving near the windows. You can keep your hooks and knives and such. You want to have sliding windows that are able to close out the light completely if necessary. As well as providing you with fresh air such as here. This provides you with a lot of the amenities of home in a much cruder fashion obviously. You want to think of it as a deer camp on ice."
