Snow skiing may very well be the best sport in the world. Anyone that has skied, whether they would ski again or not, can at least attest to the exhilaration of racing down the mountain. Under control or even out of control, skiing is a blast for almost all ages. Even for beginners skiing can be fun - albeit somewhat painful. Those painful times of skiing do not just exist when your start skiing however; whenever a skier decides to progress in skiing ability it is a challenging and often uncomfortable task. Nevertheless, it is not enough to keep us off the slopes, and in fact the better instruction a skier has the more easy the transition from beginning skiing to advanced skiing.

In this free video series, our expert ski instructor will teach you how to snow ski, from the basics of stepping into ski binding, to stance to taking small jumps. You will get instructions for how to turn on snow skis, how to stop and how to ski backwards, or switch. You will also learn how to get on and off a chair lift and how to slide snow ski boxes. Video Transcript

"So in this segment, I'm going to be teaching you how to step in to your actual ski binding. What you want to make sure of is that there is no snow build up underneath your boot or actually inside the bindings. So you want to make sure to clear everything out so it can make a proper seal between the binding and your boot so your ski doesn't pop off prematurely when you're actually in the middle of a trick or in the middle of skiing. So now we're actually going to be stepping into the binding. Notice how I'm using my ski poles for balance on the side just because you're going to be balancing on one leg and you might be doing this in the middle of the run during the occasion that your ski does come off, so you're going to want to have your ski poles on the side for balance. And to make sure there's no snow on the bottom of your boot you can kick it forward and backward on the toe piece of the binding. This helps remove snow from the base to help make that proper seal like I was talking about earlier. And now we're actually going to be stepping into the binding. You're going to put your toe in first, set your heel down in the back and push down in the back with your heel. You'll see the break of the ski click up in the back and the tail piece of the ski pop up. This helps you know that there's actually a good seal and you're pretty much ready to go."
