Video Transcript

"This next segment I would like to discuss Kari-waza or kicking techniques. Particularly two types of kicks that you will learn as a beginner; one is the front kick or my-yiti and the other one is the low sidekick or join kick, sometimes referred to as kun-set-su-geti. For my-yiti the person kicking will bring one leg up and chamber it close to the knee. The toes of the kicking foot are up, the heel of the foot should be closer to the ground, make sure that the chamber is held close to the knee and the knee as high as possible. Then the leg is straightened. And as you can see the ball of the foot or the front of the toes may be used, sometimes even the heel can be used, extending the foot this way. Bring in the foot back, again to the starting position, or the chamber position. And then putting the foot down."
