"ALVIN DEDEAUX: Okay, the next step is to select some more material for the thorax, the tapered part of the body. It's going to start out back here near the tail and get thicker as we move toward the hook. So I want to get a pretty good-sized clump of these Pheasant Tail fibers, and this time I really want to get a pretty good-sized piece. And this time, I really want to make sure I get them as long as I can, so I'm going to pull it out and cut it right down near the stem of this feather. Because what's going to happen with these pieces is I'm actually going to tie them in tip first since they're thinner here and thicker here, and I'm going to wrap this--I'm going to tie this end first and then wrap it toward the front of the hook. And as I get to this thicker material, it's going to increase the diameter of the fly."
